Progress Surgery with Amber

The progress surgery with Amber was really helpfull it help me establish where I am up to and kind of what I need to focus on. One key point I take away from it was that I should finish my context brief and not dwell on it longer then I should as it's not a main brief.

End of Year show:

Initially I wanted to just have an Imac with my portfolio but looking back at my projects and I would prefer something visual so I am going to look into all the vinyl covers I had screen printed last term and extend on that to produce up to 9 vinyls I could frame and use for my exhibition with an imac.

Some of the photos I took during the shoot. In total I came away with 290 photos with a good range of different portrait and landscape formats. This gave me a lot of design freedom when it came to laying out the double spread as I new exactly what my grid was and how images fit into it.

Feedback from printers about Alex's book and budget

Alex Dodgeson Written up Brief.

Sorry I have only got round to posting this up now...

Brief:

Produce an Exhibition / Portfolio book for final year fine art Student Alex Dodgeson.

Background:

Alex's work is all instalment pieces or canvas artwork. All of his work have the common factor of paint and experimentation with either canvas or people. He records his work through video and photography.

All the imagery used within Alex's publication has been taken by himself or has been directed by him. Note - none of my own imagery will be used its all his.

Mandatory Requirements:

Produce a book covering work alex has produced across the 3 years he has been on the course. The Client has decided that the book will be called paint and anything I produce around that is up to me but the core concept is dealing with raw paint materials.

Budget £150
At least 10 - 20 books to be made

Deliverables:
between 10 - 15, 80 Page perfect bound books. printed to a professional standard.

Additional:

Produce exhibition posters and invites to go along with alex's publication.

Font we decided on for title page and cover

We both decided on the 3rd circled typeface. It's called Neutraface Bold

Addition imagery Alex has given me and Cover

Alex has given me some added imagery to fit into his publication as he finishes off some of his FMP work. This will extend the book to around a 70 page publication. Images are copy write Alex Dodgeson.

Cover Design

After discussing the paint concept with alex we decided that printing on a canvas cover would be the best way forward and he send me some imagery he found suitable for the cover. The image above I took and clean up in photoshop to hopefully emphasise the clean crisp colour when printing onto canvas. 

Jake Coleman look book

after meeting with jake yesterday he pointed out that he didn't think that the bay window bench page looked right, so i made some more varations of that double page spread for him to have a look at. due to the imagery I have it was pretty limited to fit onto my grid but these are some more varations.
